Meet the Freedom Institute Team: Caroline Hill, LMHC, Admissions Manager
Asking for help is no easy task, so when you do, it’s good to know that there is someone who will take you seriously, is professional, thorough, has integrity, and leads with kindness. Freedom Institute‘s Admissions Manager, Caroline Hill, LMHC, is that person on the other end of the call.
What brought you to this work?
I credit my influential college advisers and professors who taught and guided me in my psychology with a clinical counseling concentration major. Most of my professors held dual roles as academics and private practitioners. They were instrumental in sparking my desire to continue to pursue the field by providing a fascinating and hands-on look into the world of therapy. They really piqued my interest in the field of therapy and they encouraged me tremendously throughout my undergraduate experience to move forward to graduate school.
What keeps you in this work?
It’s the opportunity to witness clients’ resilience and progress in their recovery on a very intimate level. I am always astounded by clients’ bravery in sharing their stories at a moment of such vulnerability when they are first engaging in the assessment process. Then to hear their progress every week in clinical meetings is so impactful. There can be a lot of heaviness in this work and despite the challenges presented, it is so assuring to hear that treatment positively affects people in a way that is unimaginable to them at the beginning of their journey.
What do you appreciate about working at Freedom Institute?
I get to engage and collaborate with a multitude of clinicians, who in my opinion, are the most experienced and talented group of clinicians working in outpatient treatment in New York City. Every day, I am learning from my colleagues and their unique experience; I am incredibly grateful for that.
