Zev Contis, LCSW
Zev Contis joined Freedom Institute as an Individual and Group Therapist in 2023, where he is responsible for providing direct, compassionate, client-centered care to all individuals that are seeking help and support from substance use. With a specialized focus on the unique way substance use impacts the life of the client as well as the environment around them, Zev is a licensed social worker that brings a psychodynamic approach to his clinical work within the larger context of the family system.
After graduating from New York University with a Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2019, Zev began to build his clinical foundation helping formerly incarcerated individuals navigate the re-entry process after their release from prison. From there, he has gone on to expand his clinical experience through working in all levels of substance use treatment including detox, inpatient rehabilitation, and intensive outpatient services. Having worked in a variety of settings with different populations of people, Zev has been afforded the opportunity to guide others through each step of the recovery process honoring their right to self-determination in a safe, therapeutic space.
Valuing service to his profession and ongoing education, Zev is also a certified field instructor through New York University, providing clinical supervision to graduate students completing their field placement hours as part of their clinical internships. In addition to his role at Freedom Institute, Zev is also part of a private group therapy practice where he sees clients with substance use issues for individual therapy.
