Genoveva Garcia is a dedicated psychotherapist specializing in family and couples therapy, deeply committed to helping clients navigate complex challenges. With extensive clinical experience in mental illness, infant mental health, life transitions, and trauma, she brings a relational approach to therapy, guiding families in their healing and growth, particularly in the context of substance abuse and addiction.
Her experience living and working across diverse communities brings a unique perspective to her work and enriches her ability to connect with individuals and families from all backgrounds.
Genoveva earned her MSW from the Silberman School of Social Work and completed postgraduate training in family therapy at the Ackerman Institute for the Family. She now serves as a teaching and supervising faculty member and the Associate Director of the Latinx Youth and Family Immigration Project. Since joining the Freedom Institute in 2017, she has facilitated support groups for parents and significant others, working to strengthen family dynamics and relationships.
In addition to her work at Freedom Institute, Genoveva maintains a private practice in New York City, working with individuals, couples, and families. Her commitment to the collaborative, team-based approach at Freedom Institute is reflected in her belief that
