Meet and Learn: Harm Reduction and Families

In this 90-minute workshop, Freedom Institute’s Director of Family Services, Salah Bustami, LMHC, Individual Therapist Pamela Topper, LCSW, and Family Therapist Genoveva Garcia, LCSW, will educate participants on how to apply principles of Integrative Harm Reduction Psychotherapy (IHRP) when working with families that involve themes of substance use and other addictive behaviors. Participants will learn the unique qualities of group leadership from an IHRP perspective and develop an understanding of how to employ the seven therapeutic tasks of IHRP in facilitating family psychotherapy groups. This workshop will include didactic and discussion components and experiential and role-plays of a mock psychotherapy group to collectively facilitate an engaged training experience.
